Supported Video Formats

We support MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM. If your video is in a different format, here is how to convert it before uploading.

We currently support the following video formats:

  • MP4 — universal, works everywhere
  • MOV — standard export format from iPhone, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve
  • MKV — common format for downloaded and archival video content
  • WebM — open format used by Chrome, Firefox, and YouTube downloads

If your video is in a different format (AVI, WMV, FLV, etc.), convert it to MP4 before uploading.

How to convert

A simple way to do this is with CloudConvert.

The basic workflow:

  1. Upload your source video
  2. Choose MP4 as the output format
  3. Start the conversion
  4. Download the converted file
  5. Upload it to Subtitling.net

If you prefer a different tool, search for convert video to MP4 and choose a service that fits your workflow.

Important note

Converting a video does not improve its quality. The converted file can only be as good as the original source file.
