If you edit the video after generating subtitles, the subtitle timing may no longer match. You should also check: the video has clear audio speech is not hidden under loud music the file is in a supported video format the video is no longer than the current duration limit you have enough credits for the full video The generator supports common video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM. Files can be up to 4 GB and up to 60 minutes long. For more detail, see Supported video formats. Step-by-Step Guide Create an account Sign up for an account and add credits to get started. Pricing is €0.25 per video minute, with a minimum of €1. Upload your video Upload your video file and start the subtitle generation process. If you already have an SRT file, you can upload that instead and use it to create a video with burned-in subtitles. Choose subtitle settings You can set the source language and, when needed, choose a different output language. If you are not sure, leave the language fields empty and the system will try to detect the source language automatically. For dense or fast speech, you can also use reading speed optimization. This can shorten or reshape subtitle text so the subtitles are easier to follow on screen. Wait for processing Processing time depends on the length of the video and the amount of speech. When processing is complete, you will receive: an SRT file with subtitle text and timecodes a video with burned-in subtitles The SRT file is useful for YouTube, Vimeo, editing software, translation workflows, and later corrections. The burned-in video is useful when the subtitles need to stay visible everywhere the video is shared. Edit the subtitles if needed If you want to correct text, timing, or line breaks: Go to My Videos Click Edit Subtitles on your video Review and adjust the subtitles in the built-in editor Save your progress Click Burn into video to render a revised version with your changes You get two free re-renders per video. A preview helps you check: whether the generated subtitles match the audio whether the text is easy to read whether the burned-in subtitles look good on the video whether names, numbers, and technical terms need correction If the preview shows an issue, edit the subtitles first. It is easier to fix the SRT before creating the final burned-in video. Improve subtitle pacing If your content is dense or fast-paced, reading speed matters. Source and output languages The source language is the language spoken in the video. The output language is the language you want in the subtitles. Use the same source and output language when you want subtitles in the original language. Choose a different output language when you want translated subtitles. Automatic translation can be useful, but names, product terms, technical language, and local expressions may still need review. Always check the SRT before publishing or burning subtitles into the final video. If you already have an SRT file You do not need to generate subtitles again if you already have a subtitle file. Generating subtitles from your video

Burning subtitles into a video creates a new video file where the subtitle text is part of the image. The subtitles stay visible wherever the video is shared, even if the platform does not show caption controls. For the full public tool page, see Burn Subtitles Into Video. This help article explains the practical workflow inside Subtitling.net. When to use this workflow Use the burn subtitles workflow when you already have: a final video file an SRT subtitle file for that same video a need for subtitles that are always visible This is useful for social clips, sales videos, training snippets, embedded videos, client deliveries, and files that will be shared outside a platform with reliable caption settings. If you only have a video and do not have subtitles yet, start with the AI Subtitle Generator. It can generate subtitles first and also create a burned-in video. What you need before uploading Before you start, check that your video and SRT match each other. The SRT should belong to the final cut of the video. The subtitle timing should be correct. The SRT file should use UTF-8 text encoding. The file extension should be . If the video was trimmed, re-exported, or edited after the SRT was created, the subtitles may be out of sync. Fix the SRT first in the free SRT editor or in your own subtitle editor. Option 1: Use your own SRT file If you already have a subtitle file, use the burn-only workflow. Open Burn Subtitles Into Video. Upload your video file. Upload your SRT file. Select the subtitle language. Create a free preview or render the full video. The result is a new video file with permanent subtitles. Your original video and SRT file are not changed. Option 2: Generate subtitles first, then burn them into the video Upload your video. Our AI generates subtitles and gives you both an SRT file and a video with burned-in subtitles. Edit if needed. Open the SRT file in our free SRT editor or in any text editor. Save your changes. Upload the updated file. Go to My Videos and upload the updated SRT file. We will render a revised version with burned-in subtitles at no extra charge. Preview before rendering the full video You can create a free preview before rendering the full video. Use the preview to check: whether the subtitle text is correct whether the SRT timing matches the video whether the selected language is correct If something looks wrong, fix the SRT file first and preview again before rendering the full video. Free re-renders after SRT edits If you find a subtitle issue after rendering, correct the SRT file and render again. Re-renders are available at no extra cost for the same video, so you do not have to accept a permanent typo or timing mistake. Use this flow: Download or open the SRT file. Correct the text or timing. Upload the updated SRT. Render the burned-in video again. Multiple subtitle languages Each language normally needs its own SRT file and its own rendered video. If you need three language versions, upload three SRT files and create a separate burned-in video for each language. This is useful when you need separate deliverables for different audiences, platforms, or clients. File limits and formats The burn workflow supports common video formats including MP4, MOV, MKV, and WebM. Files can be up to 4 GB and up to 60 minutes long. The subtitle file must be an SRT file. Other subtitle formats should be converted to SRT before uploading. For more detail, see Supported video formats. When not to burn subtitles in Burned-in subtitles are permanent. Viewers cannot turn them off, resize them, or switch language tracks inside the same video file. For long YouTube videos, online courses, or accessibility workflows where viewer control matters, a separate caption track may be better. Use burned-in subtitles when consistent visibility matters more than viewer control.

How Do I Contact You?

Step 1: Open the built-in editor Go to My Videos Once subtitle generation is complete, click Edit Subtitles on your video The editor opens with your video and subtitles already loaded Tip: You can also click Import .srt inside the editor to load your own file, or Download .srt to save the subtitle file to your computer. Step 2: Edit and burn into video Edit the subtitle text or timing directly in the editor Click Save progress at any time to keep your changes When the subtitles are ready, click Burn into video We will render a new version with burned-in subtitles for you You will be redirected to My Videos once the process starts, where you can track progress. You get two free re-renders per video. SRT formatting If you edit the raw SRT file outside the browser editor, the file needs to stay correctly formatted for playback to work. Editing your subtitles

What If I Don't Have iDEAL or a Credit Card?

Reading speed optimization is an optional feature that automatically shortens subtitle text to match a comfortable reading pace. It is available when you generate subtitles on Subtitling.net. What It Does When you enable reading speed optimization, our tool trims subtitle text before rendering your video. If a subtitle would take longer to read than the time it is on screen, the tool shortens it. You still get a readable version of what was said, but the text fits the display time. The left image shows full-text subtitles that match the complete transcript. The right shows the same content after optimization: shorter lines, same meaning. See It in Action Your browser does not support the video tag. Note: These subtitles were automatically generated and have not been edited by a human. When It Is Most Useful Reading speed optimization is particularly effective for translated subtitles. Translated text is often longer than the original speech and benefits most from condensing. In same-language subtitles, some viewers notice the difference; in translated subtitles, slight variations are natural and not distracting.

Special Requests

In rare cases, AI-generated subtitles may contain text that is unusual, out of context, or simply wrong. Why does this happen? This can happen when the system produces text that does not match what was actually said in the audio. Sometimes the result looks random. Sometimes it may insert a name, phrase, or line that does not belong in the video at all. What is an AI hallucination? This type of error is commonly called an AI hallucination. It means the model has generated output that sounds plausible in form, but is not grounded in the actual source audio. These errors are a known limitation of AI systems. They are uncommon, but they can occur. What should I do if I see this? If you notice strange or nonsensical subtitle text: check the line in the editor correct it manually if the fix is simple submit a ticket if you want us to review the issue If this happens in your subtitles, submit a ticket and we can take a look. Strange Subtitle Text

We currently support the following video formats: MP4 — universal, works everywhere MOV — standard export format from iPhone, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve MKV — common format for downloaded and archival video content WebM — open format used by Chrome, Firefox, and YouTube downloads If your video is in a different format (AVI, WMV, FLV, etc.), convert it to MP4 before uploading. How to convert A simple way to do this is with CloudConvert . The basic workflow: Upload your source video Choose MP4 as the output format Start the conversion Download the converted file Upload it to Subtitling.net If you prefer a different tool, search for convert video to MP4 and choose a service that fits your workflow. Important note Converting a video does not improve its quality. The converted file can only be as good as the original source file.

Supported Video Formats

We provide a video with burned-in subtitles as part of the standard workflow. If you want to watch the video with a separate SRT file instead, VLC Media Player is a practical option. Automatic subtitle loading in VLC If the video file and the SRT file have the same name and are saved in the same folder, VLC will usually load the subtitles automatically when the video starts. Example: Manually loading subtitles in VLC If the files do not have the same name, or are stored in different locations, you can load the subtitles manually. Step-by-step Open VLC Media Player and start your video In the top menu, click Subtitle Select Add Subtitle File Browse to your .srt file Select it and continue playback The subtitles should now appear on the video.
