Post‑Editing SRT Files and Proofreading

Learn how to edit, proofread, and adjust your .srt subtitle files before rendering a new hardcoded video.

Post‑editing subtitles is not always required, but if you want to make changes, here is how to do it.

Step 1: Open the Built-in Editor

  1. Go to My Videos on our website.
  2. Once subtitle generation is complete, click Edit Subtitles on your video.
  3. The editor opens with your subtitles pre-loaded and your video ready to preview.

Tip: You can also click Import .srt inside the editor to load your own file, or Download .srt to save the subtitles to your computer.

Step 2: Edit and Burn into Video

  1. Make the necessary changes to the text or timing directly in the editor.
  2. Click Save progress at any time to keep your edits for later.
  3. When you're happy with the result, click Burn into video.
  4. We will render a new hardcoded video for you (2 free revisions per video).

You will be redirected to My Videos once the process starts, where you can track progress.

Correct SRT Formatting

When editing your subtitles, correct formatting is crucial for smooth playback.

  • Ensure there are no overlapping timecodes
  • Add a blank line underneath each subtitle block

Tip: If you add or delete subtitles, you do NOT need to keep the numbering in sequence. Any numbering works.

Example

1
00:00:02,320 --> 00:00:06,640
Look at the size of that trunk.
You could put three bodies in there.
(Always a blank line!)

3
00:00:07,460 --> 00:00:10,599
Just kidding. Just trying to levitate the situation.

4
00:00:11,700 --> 00:00:15,959
Okay, thank you. We appreciate it.
-Sure. Hey, what kind of car do you drive anyway?
