Post‑Editing SRT Files and Proofreading

Post‑editing subtitles is not always required, but if you want to make changes, here is how to do it.

✏️ Step 1: Edit Your SRT File

  1. Open the .srt file in our own free srt editor or if you prefer, in any text/word processor (e.g., Notepad for Windows, TextEdit for Mac).
  2. Make the necessary changes to the text or timing.

⚠️ Important:

  • Save the file in .srt format and use UTF‑8 encoding if there is a choice.
  • Correct: corporate.srt
  • Incorrect: corporate.txt.srt

📤 Step 2: Upload Your Edited File

  1. Go to My Videos on our website.
  2. Upload the updated .srt file.
  3. We will render a new 1080p hardcoded video for you free of charge.

To preview your updated file before uploading, you can use VLC Media Player.

🧾 Correct SRT Formatting

When editing your subtitles, correct formatting is crucial for smooth playback.

  • Ensure there are no overlapping timecodes
  • Add a blank line underneath each subtitle block

Tip: If you add or delete subtitles, you do NOT need to keep the numbering in sequence. Any numbering works.

Example

1
00:00:02,320 --> 00:00:06,640
Look at the size of that trunk.
You could put three bodies in there.
(Always a blank line!)

3
00:00:07,460 --> 00:00:10,599
Just kidding. Just trying to levitate the situation.

4
00:00:11,700 --> 00:00:15,959
Okay, thank you. We appreciate it.
-Sure. Hey, what kind of car do you drive anyway?
